Globe High School has openings for the 38th Annual Copper Cities Basketball Tournament.  Boys dates are December 27-29, 2018 and Girls dates are January 3-5, 2019.  We are looking to continue the tradition of 3 days and 5 games with games held on the brand new Globe High School gym floor and High Desert Middle school gym.  Cost will be $375 for 1 team or $700 for both teams.  We are looking for 1A-3A teams to keep the "small school" feel.  All games will be AIA certified referees and a combination of 2-20 minute running clock (1st 2 days) and regulation games (last day).  An outstanding Hospitality Room provided. Summary: Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in our student athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, busses, and at all times during the season. Stress the importance of academics. Push the concept of pursuing victory with honor and Positve Coaching Alliance. Teach skills necessary for competition from the basics to advanced level depending on the athlete. Exercise patience, tolerance and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, officials, and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior, and interactions with our student athletes should be reflective of this.

The Cheer teams will be expected to cheer at all home Varsity and JV Football and basketball games and all Varsity away 3A East region football and basketball games (Includng the girls basketball games if they are in the post season).  Additionaly the Cheer team will compete in the AIA State qualifier and State meet if they qualifiy and also compete in the AZ Cheer Association state meet in the spring.

Head High School Coaches must have a current teaching certificate or sub certificate in the State of Arizona, or Arizona coaching certificate, or NFHS sports specific certificate. $

NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (www.nfhslearn.org). $

Current IVP Fingerprint Card for head coaches, Level One fingerprint for lower levels. $

39.10.5 Spiritline coaches shall be AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors) Safety Certified and shall provide proof of certification to the Athletic Director of the local campus and the AIA office. $

39.10.6 Spiritline coaches shall attend a National Federation Spirit Rules Interpretation Class each school year. The National Federation Spirit Rules Interpretation Class shall consist of the clarification, interpretation and current changes of the National Federation Spirit Rule Book. $

Purpose Statement

The job of POMS/DANCE COACH -HIGH SCHOOL was established for the purpose/s of designing and implementing various routines for the Poms Squad in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to the student activity; overseeing dance line volunteers; providing supervision of student participants during all aspects of the program; using sound instructional techniques in overseeing the dance line activities; serving as a positive role model to student participants; and may serve in a liaison capacity for the school and dance line program with other schools both within and/or outside the district. Essential Functions

  • Analyzes a variety of routines for the purpose of identifying those that best match students' strengths.
  • Assesses student participants for the purpose of providing feedback to students on their individual performance and/or determining squad placement and routines for try outs.
  • Conducts a variety of supporting activities (e.g. parent orientations, recognition events, banquets, etc.) for the purpose of providing information regarding the program and/or recognizing participants' accomplishments.
  • Develops squad and individual practice regimes for student participants (e.g. routines, exercise, nutritional, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing and improving their performance.
  • Develops strategies/plans for the purpose of preparing the pom squad for competitions.
  • Evaluates performance locations (e.g. uneven surfaces, performance areas, etc.) for potential hazards for the purpose of implementing modifications to routines that minimize the potential risk of injury.
  • Identifies program needs for the purpose of providing recommendations of expenditures for activities, equipment, supplies, etc. that will enhance the assigned poms program.
  • Implements practice schedules and related events (e.g. usage of facilities and equipment, staff assignments, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operation.
  • Instructs student participants for the purpose of promoting individual growth in skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Oversees poms squad volunteers in supervision guidelines and responsibilities for the purpose of providing direction and monitoring activities.
